Dragline Supervisor

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:

Primary responsibility is directing work of employees involved in mining coal, overburden removal and related activities to safely and efficiently meet production requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Be responsible for the safe working condition of pit equipment and enforces safe work procedures of all employees, through accident/incident investigations, crew meetings, and administering standard operating procedures.
• Schedules and implements daily work plans to meet quality, safety and production requirements of monthly mining plan.
• Monitors production dozing efforts and helps direct activities for desired results.
• Assists designated trainers and Training Supervisor with on-the-job training of hourly employees in safe, efficient use of mining equipment.
• Reviews "STAR" criteria with employees as needed and holds them accountable for performing accordingly.
• Evaluates hourly employee job performance and discusses with employee.
• Assists pit operations as required.
• Prepares daily reports on production, equipment availability and utilization.
• Conducts weekly employee meetings to cover any safety related items as well as the current week's work.
• Monitor D&B activities on night shifts.
• Identifies, reports and coordinates maintenance work and schedules with Maintenance Supervisor to keep equipment safe and operational. Assures equipment is at shop for scheduled Preventive Maintenance.
• Support and enforce Company policies and procedures.
• Facilitate and support SABERS.
• Carry out risk assessments.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5 years surface mining experience.
• 3 years of supervisory experience
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple people, tasks and projects.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and e-mail software applications.
