Production Supervisor

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:

Provide direction and leadership to hourly employees with responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of surface coal mining equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Provide for the safety of employees and ensure that all employees understand and comply with the safety policies of the company, state and federal regulations, and standard operating procedures.
• Supervise hourly personnel using heavy equipment to mine overburden and coal, prepare related property in seed bed material (top soil) removal, road construction, water drainage and diversion, and perform reclamation.
• Schedule and implement daily work plans to meet quality, safety and production requirements of monthly mining plan.
• Assist designated crew trainers and production trainer with on-the-job training of hourly employees.
• Review S.T.A.R. guidelines with employees, as needed, and hold them accountable for performing accordingly.
• Evaluate hourly employee job performance.
• Assist dragline operations, as required.
• Prepare daily reports on production, equipment availability and utilization.
• Conduct weekly employee meetings to cover safety-related topics, as well as the short-term mine plan.
• Identify and report maintenance issues and coordinate maintenance work with Maintenance Supervisor. Ensure equipment is available for scheduled preventive maintenance.
• Facilitate and support SABERS.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Mining Engineering degree preferred; or equivalent experience.
• Four years of surface mining experience.
• Three years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple people, tasks and projects.
• The position requires sound basic knowledge of heavy equipment and capabilities.
• The successful candidate must possess or obtain Wyoming Mine Foreman certification within one year of accepting position.
