Mining Technology Technician - Black Thunder Mine

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Configuration and programming of wireless endpoint and backhaul devices, including but not limited to; Ubiquiti PtMP Wireless devices, Motorola MOTOMESH Solo AP's and Endpoint radios, and Extreme WiNG wireless solutions
• Maintain, relocate and position mobile solar power systems and access points as needed to optimize system performance and avoid conflicts with mine operations
• Utilize computers and software to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize all mining technology wireless solutions deployed throughout the minesite to maintain a high level of availability; correcting and repairing system problems as needed
• Installing, troubleshooting and maintaining hardware components supplied by all technology vendors in mobile machinery and on fixed and mobile access point trailers
• Cross training of job duties to assist in maintaining and troubleshooting solutions in the mining technology environment will be required, including Minestar Fleet, Minestar Terrain, Mineware, and XM Radios
• Timely and accurately document all troubleshooting, repairs and moves made to systems
• Participate in daily reconciliation process to identify component malfunctions and maintain a high level of system integrity and accuracy
• Communicate with Minestar Controllers and Supervisors to complete repairs during downtimes that mitigate the impact on mining operations
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Ability to work safely and unsupervised with good problem-solving skills
• 3 - 5 Years of wireless network experience in a surface mining environment
• Background in managing IP Networks and WiFi Solutions, preferably working with Ubiquiti, MOTOMESH Solo, Extreme WiNG, and Rajant components
• Electronics background in installation and maintenance of radio equipment
• Previous experience with the Caterpillar Minestar Suite of products, including; Fleet, Terrain, Health and Command or the Mineware Argus shovel monitoring solution
• Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint and Visio
• Working knowledge of Network Monitoring Tools such as Ubiquiti UISP, LogicMonitor, and Ping Plotter Pro
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and self-motivated
• Working outside in all types of weather and in elevated areas as required
