Light Vehicle Mechanic

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Trouble-shoot and repair various mechanical problems on light and medium duty vehicles, light plants, gas and diesel water pumps, air compressors welders and other various mine equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance service on all above equipment
• Properly complete daily reports.
• May be assigned to other maintenance groups to repair and maintain other equipment.
• Participation in SABERS program.
• All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• A thorough knowledge of diesel, gasoline engines and powertrain components
• Ability to perform basic cutting and welding functions.
• ASE certified or equivalent experience with light vehicle equipment maintenance
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to complete assignments in a safe and appropriate manner with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Must be willing to work in adverse conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, extreme heat, extreme cold, dust, rain, snow, and wind, as well as frequent contact with grease and dirt.
• Must demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Three years relevant experience, completion of applicable technical school training or a combination of experience and training.
