Human Resources Representative

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Perform Human Resources generalist functions for approximately 1250 employees at two mines (Black Thunder and Coal Creek). The Human Resource Representative will ensure effective coordination of policies, programs, and training in the areas of competitive selection and retention, employee relations, and employee benefits within state and federal guidelines.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Employment - Develops, coordinates, and monitors activities related to the recruitment and retention of proficient and technically competent employees in order to meet the short- and long-term recruitment plans of TBCC. Duties include coordination of internal and external recruitment; conducting new hire orientation; compiling reports and statistical data such as turnover, exit interview information, and staffing data; coordinating events and related activities with educational institutions and appropriate organizations to maintain a positive community image and further recruitment efforts.
  • Governmental Compliance - Ensures proper posting of all required notices; assists with developing annual Affirmative Action program; complete and submit EO Surveys, DOL data surveys, EEO-1 and VETS-100 reports.
  • HRIS - Prepares change forms for employee movements. Ensures integrity of data in HRIS through ensuring all new hires, terms, and changes are entered in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Employee Relations - Participates in employee relations practices necessary to establish and maintain positive employer/employee relationships and promote positive employee morale; respond to employees regarding basic policy administration issues/questions in a timely and appropriate manner.
    • Benefits - Responds to questions related to benefits; participates in open enrollment benefit activities; participates in wellness events.
    • Other HR projects and duties, as assigned.

PREFERRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. in Business Administration, Human Resources, Management or relevant degree area, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with an HRIS
  • 2 to 6 yrs. of management or HR generalist experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
