Environmental Engineer

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE: Provide effective engineering support to maintain environmental and regulatory compliance and facilitate safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the mine.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Major areas of responsibility will include cost-effective permitting, compliance, reporting, analysis, reclamation, and project work required to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

General Office Work

• All permitting, reporting, monitoring, and compliance tasks associated with air, land, waste, water, and wildlife programs to support multiple surface coal mining operations.
• Environmental design work including: post-mining topography, hydrologic projects, various sediment and flood-control structures, air monitoring regimes, and reclamation planning.
• Regulatory interaction including: analysis, inspections, meetings, planning, and tracking.
• Reporting for nearly every site permit.
• Contractor management.
• Project planning/budgeting.
• Equipment and cost tracking.
• Preparation and oversight of annual grazing plans, weed control programs, vegetation monitoring, wildlife monitoring, hydrologic monitoring, and air monitoring.

Field Work

• Site inspections with state and federal government agencies including air, land, water, and waste.
• Field verification of compliance measures and designated projects.
• Coordination of waste handling and management.
• Project work, as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Civil Engineering, or equivalent education/experience.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Carlson, SurvCADD, SedCAD, PCs, Microsoft Office products
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Wyoming Mine Foreman's Certification or the willingness to acquire when eligible.
• FE/PE or interest in obtaining.
